Look What Showed Up for Me

I hope all had a wonderful Mother's Day. I certainly did. I was treated like a queen , received lots of hugs and kisses, a beautiful bouquet of Red Roses from my DH and an Awesome Liz Clairbourne Green Crystal pin from my son. I also got to pick out something I wanted

so I chose this awesome. squishy, lovey dovey sock yarn from an incredible Ebay Seller: my_special_tea

I chose 2 beautiful hanks. The first is Chili Pepper on the left and Native on the right. The yarn is 90% wool and 10% nylon. This yarn will be perfect on my #2 for some terrific socks.

I Need To Knit!

We have been blessed with my brother and SIL coming for a visit. They came to see Mom and Lil' Bro has been pleasantly surprised at how well Mom is doing. The staff at Ridgecrest NH take really great care of her.

I am jonesing for some knitting and my favorite novella One Life to Life. I haven't picked up my needles since Sunday and need to play the DVR and watch Monday and today's OLTL episodes so.....I am casting on for the other Hot Tamale Sock and watching OLTL.

Ahhhhhh.........Heaven....Simply Heaven! Now all I need is some Sweet Iced Tea..............

Chocolate Covered Cherries on My Feet

I just finished this up..they need a washing and then off to the Nursing Home as a Charity Donation for Warming Families. I knitted on #7 dpn's using TLC Essentials. They are approx. a Women's Size 7-7 1/2. They will be toasty warm for someone's tootsies.

Well, here it is...in all it's Wonky Glory...My Very First Knitted Sock Ever! I used Bernat Sox in Hot Tamale and I made it a shortie so I wouldn't waste yarn. I knitted on #2 dpn's.

I need to finish the other one. I learned alot from this sock. I am more confident and happy with my sock knitting ability. I cannot believe I taught myself with the help of KnittingHelp.com, Silver's Sock Class Tut and some books. This little puppy was ripped out so many times the yarn started to split but I am as pleased as a Pig in Puddin'! :)

Where has the Time Gone?

OMG! I cannot believe it has been a year since I posted to this blog. How time flies when you are having fun. Lot's of things have been going on with me and it's 5:00 AM and I've gotta go to work soon but i have every intention to come back and start back up with regular blogging.

One of the nicest developments that has happened is I learned to knit! I am hooked and I can honestly say I love to knit! I have slowly graduated from flat hats and scarves...I knitted my first sock. It's quite Wonky but it works and I am proud of it. I will post a pic and get this blog rollin' again.

Long Time Away

Oh My how time flies when you having fun! It's been a long time since I posted to my blog but I will try and make an effort to keep it up-to-date from now on.

Lots of things have been going on since I last posted. We had family visit, friends visit for Bike Week, I got a new puppy, I got a part-time job and I am continuing to crochet for charity. I had someone ask me the other day if I still made jewelry to sell. My answer was basically No..not at this time. I have really enjoyed not being constrained by deadlines..it took all the pleasure away. So now I am into crocheting for charity and I have lots of gifts to make this year. Starting with family.

I got a part-time job at Goody's Family clothing which is opening up here in DeLand in May. I am only wanting to work approx. 15 hrs a week and it's mainly to help with the finances around here.....and the biggest reason of all....to build up a savings. I have been worried lately about our future and I feel we need a nest egg....a bigger one!

My son just got his license and he will go to work this summer. I would like to help him with his first car. That was something my mom was never able to do for us so I want to help him. He is also in braces and his mouth is costing us a monthly payment.

I dream of a family vacation. I have always wanted to go to Washington, D.C. I would also like to see the Georgia Aquarium this summer. So I have been busy. I am a little apprehensive about the extra job but hopefully I can do it. I was thinking that it may help with my slow metabolism. I went to the Doctor a couple weeks ago and I have gained 20 pounds in the last 6 months. I already knew that but when your Dcotor tells you to get if off before October, then it really hits home.

So with that I shared a picture of my new baby - Rosie. She is a Chorkie - 1/2 Yorkie and 1/2 Chiuhuahua. She weighs 4 lbs now. She has gained 2 lbs in the 2 months we have had her. She is so adorable, loving and smart. My cat Ms. Boots hasn't taken to her yet - honestly she doesn't like her at all right now and it's been 2 months.....but hopefully with time she will.

Wow, It's been a long time since I posted. Time sure does fly when you're having fun! It's February - the month of Love and the picture here is a hat that I tested. The wonderful pattern was provided by Wormie over at Crochetville. She made up the pattern for charities. I love the pattern and have made 2 hats for the March Charity Blitz at Crochetville. We are to do Hat and Scarf Sets for Freedom Village USA. Thanks for such a great pattern Wormie!

Oh the Poncho-bilities

The first week of the new year is nearly behind us and I am so glad the weekend is here again. Once you get in that "time off from work" mode...it's so hard to get back into the swing of things.

I have loads of projects on the burners. My ideal goal is to get my Etsy Shop back into shape. I was taken away with orders, fairs and the holidays....not that I am complaining but I would like to have the online shop operational too.

Here is a poncho that I made myself and I am so glad I did! I am always so cold at work...they keep the office so cold...this poncho has kept me warm..and gotten me 2 custom orders for ponchos.

Here is a Sexy Shawl I recently made that I wore to work one

day. I am proud to say that I received 2 custom orders for the

shawl and have made one in white and another in black for 2

co-workers.

I am really diggin' Crochet!!

Sharing is Caring

This is an afghan I crocheted to give as one of the Adopt-A-Senior Gifts last weekend at Ridgecrest Nursing and Rehab. I didn't give it to anyone last weekend, I kept this and the shawl I crocheted and gave it to two special residents yesterday. I knew of 2 residents that had no one to regularly come and see them. I asked the nurses yesterday if they would direct me to 2 needy recipients and it was the 2 residents I had originally thought of. I was happy to be able to give them something to keep them warm. The resident I gave the shawl to started crying which made me cry. I feel so blessed to be able to use the talent I have to share love.

I am in need of 6" and 8" Crocheted Granny Squares to assemble into Blankets for the X's and O's Blanket Drive 2007. If you would like to participate and contribute, please contact me at peddlintreasures@yahoo.com

Great Day for the Seniors at Ridgecrest!

What a Fantabulous Day we had for the Adopt-A-Senior at Ridgecrest on Sunday the 17th. We had plenty of presents; every resident received a gift and there were some left over that the facility can use for new admits between now and Christmas. Also some gifts for the Bingo prizes and Christmas Party prizes.

I wish to thank everyone who donated! You helped turn this little dream of mine into a blessing and I could not have done it without your help.

Here are some pics of the day. The pictures were taken by the First State Officer of the Southern Cruisers Riding Group. My pictures are pretty much the same and he had already uploaded to Photobucket so we will use his album. :)

We were not allowed to take pictures of the residents receiving gifts due to the Healthcare Privacy Act but you can believe me when I say that there were lots of smiling faces, some of our troop cried, we had laughs and giggles. Wow! What an experience!

The SCRC were a tremendous help. Some of the members were already planning what they were going to do next year. I think that's wonderful. I planted a seed and that's what I wanted to do. I am moving on to other Charities in 2007 - my blanket drives. I am glad that the Group will pick this up and continue on.

Looking Forward to 2007

This will be a busy weekend. I have been looking forward to the Seniors Christmas on Dec. 17th. I have had such a wonderful response to this that words cannot express how grateful I am that all the Seniors at Ridgecrest will not only receive a gift but possibly 2..maybe 3. I have lots and lots of gifts. As promised I will post pics of the day right here on the blog.

I have finished a lapghan and 10 pairs of slippers. I also finished my mom's Giant Rectangle Granny Square Afghan. I decided to make it a "bed-topper" size. I will post pics of everything soon.

I have been making my Charity plans for 2007. I have decided to start a blanket drive to run all year to benefit 2 Homeless Shelters in the area. The first shelter is the Starr Family House located in Daytona Beach, Florida. It serves women and children. It is a safe place to escape violence and the lonely, dangerous streets. The other is the Agape Clubhouse in Deland, Florida. The Agape Clubhouse helps the Homeless and they also have a food kitchen there. I decided to start a blanket drive for both. If you would like to contribute either a donation of yarn, some crocheted granny squares or make a blanket or 2 or 3..please contact me. I would enjoy and would love the help!

I am also starting a Slippers for Seniors Project in 2007. All the slippers and booties I receive will be donated to the many Nursing Facilities in this area. If you would like to join in any of these projects please contact me!

Adopt-A-Senior Shawl

I have been busy creating Christmas Gifts and this is one of my contributions to the Project Ridgecrest Adopt-A-Senior Program this year. I created this soft, comfy and warm shawl using this pattern: http://www.crochetme.com/issue_1/easiest_shawl_ever.html
I used a little of my own creativity and this is the end result. I am very happy with it and I am looking forward to giving it to a Senior at the Facility. I am approx. 75% complete with a lapghan. I am going to make some slippers next.

I do have an update on Project Ridgecrest. I rec'd a call the other evening from a gentleman they call Wolfman. He is a high ranking official in the Central Florida Southern Cruisers Riding Club. He heard about our efforts with this Christmas Project and asked me just how big I wanted this to be. He is in Tampa this weekend and is announcing the Project to the West Coast Officers. He told me is 99.99% sure he can have as many as 350 motorcyclists carrying gifts at the Facility on Dec. 17th. WOW is all I can say. My original goal was 100 gifts. I have received an enormous response to this and I am grateful! Thanks so much to all are contributing, helping me organize and planning to hand out gifts. This has been a blessing!

I want to also thank Alison Small from Beadery On the Boulevard in Deland Florida for accepting a Donation Box at her place of business. She is encouraging customers to participate. Thanks Alison!!

I received 18 Fleece Blankets yesterday from Roberta's Mother. Roberta is a friend of mine and a co-worker! Kudos to Roberta's Mom! Go Mom!! Also thanks to Denise; another co-worker who has contrubuted lots and lots of goodies so far! Go Denise. I recently received a Handcrafted Tote Bag and Note Cards from a Fellow Crafster - Cyndiq - Thanks Cindy! Toni a co-worker recently donated some awesome clothes. These clothes are brand new and are so awesome. And Thanks to my little brother who sent a massive box via UPS from Illinois filled with body sprays, candy, socks, undershirts and underwear! Thanks and love ya Mark!

I will post updates as quickly as possible. Our delivery date is Dec. 17th at 1:30 pm. Be thinking of us!

Update on Project Ridgecrest

Good News Everyone! I received word that the Daytona Beach Chapter of the SCRC (Southern Cruisers Riding Club); a Motorcycle Club from Daytona Beach with Chapters throughout the US has decided to adopt Project Ridgecrest as their Christmas Event this year! I am so thrilled and humbled by their kindness and generosity! A friend of mine Roberta introduced this project at the club meeting this past week and they voted on it. We will also have a Santa Claus to come along to help hand out the gifts. A new member of the SCRC has agreed to dress up and play Santa. I understand he has a white beard already. Pluggin' Along and Having Fun!

This has been a whirlwind week! Work was crazy, my husband had cataract surgery and I started a horrific cough last night. My hubby woke me up and asked me to go get a drink of water....I must have woke him up with my coughing. I don't have time to be sick....who does? Right?

I have been steadily working on my projects. This is a tote I made for a Craftster Swap. I have one more Christmas Scarf Completed. I have finished up my Craftster Swap items, I am approx. 40% complete on Mom's 'ghan and I have started a CAL with a co-worker on a shawl. Our shawls will be our contribution to Project Ridgecrest. This weekend I plan to fuse pendants for consignment, work on 'ghan and shawl, put together earrings and CLEAN my house..LOL. I gotta fit in grocery shopping somewhere. My husband wants to tour the Street Of Dreams at Bella Colina in Orlando this weekend (Read about Street of Dreams here: http://www.streetofdreams.com/Orlando,%20Fl_2006.htm) These are multi-million dollar homes. He has Free Tickets (yes you gotta pay..geez) and he wants me to go look at these places....what! Is he trying to make me depressed and upset. My 16 y/o son says if we can't live in one then he don't want to see 'em. The boy has a point. Oh well, I gotta squeeze Bella Colina in Sunday. I'll make the most of it. Hey, I bought lottery tickets. Wouldn't that be a hoot if I won....I would have my happy arse up in Bella Colina living the high live in no time.

Starting to Look Alot Like Christmas!

I have started on Christmas Gifts. I have to! Geez, Have you seen my WIP List? Whew!

This is a Giant Granny Square Afghan that I am making for my Momma for Christmas. I am using Caron Simply Soft in colors of Limelight, Grape and Black. This works up very fast. I am approx. 30% complete but by the end of this weekend I feel I could possibly be 60% complete. Then I can move on to more. I have decided to make all my co-workers a crocheted scarf for Christmas. I have 25 of those to whip up. I have the whole weekend to work on projects so I am glass fusing today and tomorrow.

Project Ridgecrest

Wow it's been awhile since I sat down and updated this blog! So sorry about that but Crafting and Swapping have been so much fun that I seem to have forgotten my blog duties!

I would like to introduce what I am calling "Project Ridgecrest" and I am asking for help.

How it starts: My mom is a resident of Ridgecrest Nuring and Rehab in DeLand, Florida. I see my mom daily as the facility is 5 min. from my home. Over the past year I have noticed some residents that have no family come visit or take care of their personal needs. I came up with an idea to try and make sure every resident at the facility get a Christmas Gift. I have enlisted the help of 2 of my co-workers and the plan has now been set in motion.

The Plan: I contacted the facility as received permission to try and collect 100 Christmas Gifts for the needest. I did not receive any personal info. The facility also has an Employee Christmas Program where the employees adopt a Senior for Christmas. They thought that if I could collect 100 gifts, that would be great.

What's Needed: I am officially putting this out in CyberWorld to ask for donations for "Project Ridgecrest". Since I have no personal info regarding residents, the gifts should be generic. Examples are: Personal Hygiene Products, blankets, socks, slippers, candy, decorations for their rooms, puzzles, books, sweaters, Music CD's, games, Arts and Craft Supplies, etc. A handcrafted item would be awesome!!

My Personal Message: I know this may be alot to ask especially since you do not know me personally. All I can tell you is this..I am quite serious about this project. I see these people everyday and I see how they yearn for visits, have next to nothing and the staff are their only contact. I want to give something back. The elderly are so interesting. I have heard stories of the War, being overseas, how they used to go dance to the Big Band Sounds, where they lived, about their lives. It touches me so deep. So.....if you would like to contribute to this project please email me at: peddlintreasures@yahoo.com. I will send you my mailing address. If you would like to wrap your gift, that would be great. I did plan to wrap everything up so if it's pre-wrapped, that would be a big help. I would like to have as much as I can get collected by December 16th, 2006. Another Love

When I was in the 7th grade back in 1977 (yeah I'm old) I took a summer course in Crocheting. I learned how to Crochet and have been crocheting off and on ever since. I put my hooks down for a very long time; approx. 16 years but have recently taken up Crocheting again. I had forgotten how to crochet but it's like riding a bike, it all comes back. I purchased the Debbie Stoller Book Happy Hooker and it has helped lots. I love how relaxing crochet is to me. I have been scarf happy lately and have been crocheting like crazy. This scarf was made for a Halloween Swap and I have made one for a going away gift for a co-worker, made a Christmas scarf, made myself one and now I am making my husband one. I crocheted a Granny Square for a Crochet-along on Craftster and have started a pretty afghan for my mom. I want to make some earrings, I rec'd some beautiful crocheted earrings from a Craftster called alwaysinmyroom for a swap gift and they have inspired me to try to make some holiday earrings. Crochet has been a love of mine, but beautiful Glass...I haven't forgotten you!

Back in the Swing of Things

After a rough week both personally and professionally I feel like I'm back in the swing of things. My hubby and I enjoyed a day of motorcycle riding yesterday. We rode in a benefit ride for a young man whose life was taken last year in a car accident. He was on his motocycle and he was broadsided by a 16 y/o driver who had a car load of kids with her. He left 2 young sons behind. All the proceeds from the ride will go to his children's trust funds. It was a beautiful day and we rode approx. 150 miles. We had nice company and had a great lunch. It was nice to get out for a bit.

The pendant pictured above was a custom order for a lady at work. Last weekend I was uninspired....this weekend the fresh air has given me new life. I have several projects in the works. I am crocheting again and have almost completed my scarf. Pics to come soon!

The Squares Have It.

This is one of my newest pendants. The colors gel together wonderfully. I didn't fuse this past weekend, this pendant came from the runs I did weekend before last. I just didn't have the desire to fuse this weekend. I have found that I just can't work with glass if I'm not in the mood. This past weekend I just worked around the house, went on a motorcycle ride with my husband; I feel I neglect him sometimes as I am usually so busy with my projects. I stenciled a tote bag, made some earrings and a bracelet and crocheted. I have recently started to crochet after a long haitus - since the 7th grade....and that was a long time ago.

We rode over the the Mall and I purhased the Stitch and Bitch Happy Hooker Book and refreshed my memory on crochet. I started a couple of easy projects. I started a scarf in Black and Orange yarn I found on sale and I also started a dish cloth. I had forgotten how to double crochet but it's like riding a bike...it does come back to you.

I participate in lots of craft swaps cuz I luv 'em and as time allows I like to share pics of the goodies I get. Recently I received the following from some swaps I participated in on Craftster. One was a personal swap and one was an orgainized swap. This little octupi guy came from kristen81 on Craftster. Isn't he adorable?

I also received the handcrafted bag from chloeiscrazy on Craftster. I am crazy for Totes and Handbags so this was a welcomed swap item. She did an excellent job fulfilling my request for a fall colored bag.

A Stenciling Addiction

I've really grown to love Stenciling. This is my second stencil project...a butterfly tattoo that I made into a stencil. It was a difficult task for a beginner but I am pleased with the outcome. I used Red Screenprinting ink but it has an orangish appearance, this must be due to the dark shirt. Now that the project is complete I can think of a few things I would have done differently. I would have made it bigger and I got a tip to mix in a tad bit of white ink with the red, that would have made it a little brighter. There is always next time. I have lots of ideas for more stenciling projects so I will be sharing as time goes on.

In the Craftin' Mood for Halloween

This is the time of year I start crafting for Halloween. I love Halloween. It has to be my 2nd favorite Holiday (if you consider it one) of the year. My first choice is Christmas. I really get into the decorating and love to hand out candy to the Trick-0-Treaters.

This is my FIRST stencil project of the season. Actually my FIRST stencil project ever. It is still under construction. I am planning to add some bats along side the pumpkin and on the back of the bag I plan to add some spiders. Stenciling is fun....just another craft I'm gonna get addicted too....my husband is rolling his eyes.

Seascapes

Today I would like to share with you some items I received in yet another swap. This was a personal swap with a Craftster named ebeth. We decided that we would swap pendants. I requested something do do with the beach and the sea. Since I live in Florida I love dolphins, the beach, fish but I also love whales, penguins, cats, dogs....well heck...any animal!
So we proceeded to crafting for each other. I was pleasantly surprised when I received my package with these two little charms. They are made out of shrinky dink paper and handpainted. I am now collecting little charms like this so I can put together a Seascape bracelet. Thanks ebeth! I enjoyed swapping!

This pendant was a random mix of glass that came out with an Asian Flair. I created 2 of these pendants; one was a custom order and this one was an extra. They were different but I used the same glass and the same theme. Glass is like that. Predictable in an unpredictable sort of way.

A Custom Fit

I love working with Glass and I especially like creating Custom pieces. This piece was created for a friend who had a specific color combo in mind. I had an idea and tried a couple of experiments but this pendant was the final result. I was pleased and my customer was equally pleased. It's a Great Day when someone gives me the Creative License to create something OOAK for them.....but it's an even greater day when they are pleased with their purchase.

More Crafty Goodness

Here are some more of the Crafty things I have received in swaps. This swap was on Craftster and it was the Sweatshoppe Swap. The premis of the swap is to pimp your wares; especially if you sell online. That's not a requirement but it is a way to get samples of your work out there. I made 10 items and rec'd 10 items in return. This is not all that I rec'd. For some reason Blogger isn't cooperating so I cannot add all the pics I wanted in this post. I will post the rest soon.

The picture in the Silver Frame now sits on my desk at work, the handmade cards I am saving for a special occasion and the two wristlets were given to my 14 y/o step-daughter. The striped pouch is holding the things that tend to sink to the bottom of purses, the Dolphin picture is in my Craft Room keeping an eye on me and the bracelet is being worn lots.

I made out like a Bandit in the swap. I am now Crafting for the Sweatshoppe 3. I have made Mosaic Trinket Boxes and Mini Suncatchers. I will share pictures of those before I send them off.

I think the next time I will take a group shot of everything so I can share with you!

A Swapping Good Time!

Over the next few days I am going to pay tribute to the Great Swap Partners I have had and share pictures of the great items I have received. This picture shows items I received from a Wonderful Crafter that goes by the name of BlooCanoe on Craftster.org. She invited me to be her partner in the "Invite Your Partner Summer Fling" Swap on Craftster.org. I was so happy to be her partner. She created some great gifts for me and as I was opening up the packages I was squealing with delight.

She made me a knitted penguin named Filbert. He is plumb and soft. I received felted soaps that smell delicious, a handfelted wristlet handbag, a panta - the first panta I have ever owned and some Candy.

I have to tell you that Filbert is very popular with my co-workers. I took him to work and he has been cuddling up with everyone but something happened today.....Filbert has been kidnapped! I received a Ransom note...found it in my chair....it said to bring something good to eat Monday Morning and Filbert will be returned...if not.....Filbert's fate is unknown. OMG...I need some recipes!

A Change in Season

Starting a new school year always gets me thinking of the change in seasons. The kids start school here August 7th. Thats early compared to other parts of the country. I remember as a child our first day of school was always after Labor Day. I would like summer to be extended and school not start until after Labor Day here in Florida.

School and the Fall Season always went hand in hand when I was growing up in Illinois. The chill in the evening air, Football Games and Homecoming Dances, falling leaves, Halloween and Thanksgiving. I have created the pendant above with Autumn in mind. I don't see Autumn like I used to. I live in Florida now and to me it's summer all the way up to Thanksgiving.

Momma Never Said It Was Gonna Be Easy!

It's funny how much we have to do in such a short amount of time. I'm talking about the daylight hours and how we are pulled in every direction sometimes. At least that's how I feel. I work a 40 hour a week job and I always seem to run short on time. I have two teens at home that I can pile the work on but getting them to do it is another thing.

Between Orthodontic appointments, camps, the malls, the movies, buying food to fill their bottomless stomachs, etc. I find myself yearning to go to the Studio for some quiet, creative time with just Me, Myself and I. I bet you can relate! But to be honest with you...I find that I am the most creative when I have lots of things going on. It drives me to want to get out to the Studio and feed my creativity.

A Busy Week

My vacation is slowly coming to an end. I had the opportunity to catch up on things that I have been neglecting and also had time to create some beautiful things. I love being at home and working in the Studio. I wish I could just live off of my Art..maybe someday.

Ahhh - Vacation

What a Wonderful time of year for a Vacation. The 4th of July week is typically the time I take one week of my vacation. I enjoy being at home, swimming, crafting and just generally enjoying myself with all there is to do at this time of year.

Daytona was abuzz with Nascar racing over this past weekend and we always get to go to the Winn-Dixie 250 on Friday and the Pepsi 400 on Saturday. My driver Dale Jr. won last Friday night which made me a happy camper and Kudos to Tony Stewart for a good race Saturday night.

The fireworks displays abound in all the areas surrounding us not to mention my kids have an arsenal of their own. This is a great time of year for a vacation. When are you taking your vacation and what will you be doing?

A Snowflake in June

It has been so Hot here in Florida lately and we have not had much rain so everything is parched. I was thinking about the Fall and Winter up North. So I thought I would create a little snow down in Florida, in my Studio. I made this Fused Art Glass Pendant with bits of Dichroic Glass to represent a Snowflake; a snowflake in June. Completed and Ready to Fly!

I Finished it! My Butterfly Kisses Stained Glass Suncatcher. I am so pleased although next project I will strive to do even better. I am still leary of trying a bigger piece with more intricate pieces so I have decided not to rush anything and take my time, enjoy the craft and make some more Suncatchers. In this picture you don't see the antennae I added this morning. A co-worker purchased this from me as a Birthday Gift for another co-worker and I had overlooked the antennae when I took this picture. I rushed out to the Studio this morning at 5 am..LOL..and added the antennae, polished it up again, wrapped it up and took it to work. It was a hit and now I have been commissioned to do 4 more Suncatchers; a Mouse, 2 Angels and 1 Sea Shell. I am so pleased!

I have taken my Art to new heights and I am very excited taking this journey.

Sharing the Knowledge

My step-daughter arrived on Wednesday from Illinois. She is here for the summer and she has expressed an interest in living here in Florida with us. She's a little crafter and loves in be involved in anything we do. She is a beautiful girl and I am eager to share my knowledge of crafting with her. I have tinkered in all sorts of craft activities from sewing to soldering so I hope she will be interested in creating some little treasures. I plan to take her to Craft Shows with me this Summer and she has agreed to go along.

I find it important to share my knowledge with her in hopes that she will find her nitsch and develop her creative side..not just for profit but for her peace of mind and happiness.

Butterfly Kisses

Ok, got the glass cut for my next project...A butterfly suncatcher measuring approx. 9x9". I've got some grinding to do but I am so happy that I went ahead and prepared the pattern and cut the glass. I am ahead of the game..this week I can work on it a little at a time and hopefully by this weekend I should have it completed.

I'm using Orange, Purple, Yellow, Blue and a Green Glass Gem. I'm not really happy with the yellow now that it's down on the pattern. I have a more deeper yellow that I may use. I just don't know. This yellow is really pretty in the sun but so is the other one. What do you think? Please leave me a comment - Do you like the yellow or should I go with a totally different color?

Unfinished Business

I usually have at least 3 unfinished projects at any given time. It just seems to happen that way. Thats the way I work I suppose. This weekend I want to get organized and prepare for some upcoming Events so I went out into the Studio to "straighten up".

I cleared off my work bench that has a couple of projects laying there needing my attention, like this Mosaic Candle Tray I started. It is 90% complete. The back of the piece needs some finishing and then it will be all set. I have the American Dream Mosaic to finish up and a Stained Glass Project to finish. Those are getting the attention they deserve this weekend.

I also need to start some product for the Bead Shop; some more of my pendants have sold and Alison at the Beadery asked for more..Yeah! I am setting up at the Flea Market July 1 and need more product for the table. I need to whip up some more earrings and such for the ladies at work; they have been asking. This weekend is dedicated to creating and lots of studio time.

You know what, I haven't planned any time for all the Laundry and cleaning I need to do. Oh well, I guess it's throw a load in tonight and sweep the floors real quick because I need some Studio Time!

It's Stained Glass Tuesday

Tuesday Nights around the house have become known as Stained Glass Tuesdays. This is the night of the week that I go to Stained Glass Class. Last week I completed the Beginners Class and was promoted to Intermediate. Everyone knows that they are "on their own" tonight. I usually won't fix the supper they are accustomed to. Before going to class I like to come home from work and rest, watch a little TV, order a Pizza, etc.

Tonight I decided to surprise them. I am cooking supper. The menu tonight is Pork Patties seasoned with Italian Breadcrumbs, Parmesan/Herb Rigatoni and Green Beans. My son just stepped in and asked "What smells so Good"? He wants to know if I am going to class. "Yep, I'm going and I made you all something to eat before I take off. " He replies "Cool, I'm hungry. Dad will be happy we aren't having Pizza." LOL...I bet he will be.

I've probably started something here but I just wanted to do something special for them since they do special things for me. And they understand It's Stained Glass Tuesday!

A Weekend in Cedar Key

We took a weekend trip to Cedar Key, Florida this past weekend. It was so nice to get away. We rode the Bikes with a small group of people. We left early Saturday morning and just took our time riding over there. It took us approx. 3 1/2 hrs to get to Cedar Key from DeLand. We stayed at a quaint little Hotel that sat right on the Gulf. We ran into a little rain but by Dinner time the rain had stopped and we walked to the Boardwalk for dinner and drinks. It was breezy and oh so nice!

On Sunday we met up with the rest of our riding group that didn't want to come over with us on Saturday. We went to get something to eat and we shopped a bit. It was 1:00 pm and time to head back home. I didn't want to leave.

It was only 1 night away from home but it was just what I needed. I am ready to get back into the swing of things. I had such a nice time. The talk around the drink table Saturday Night was a trip to the Keys. I am ready for that! I hope everyone was serious and it just wasn't the drinks talking!

It's Official!

I have succesfully completed the Beginners Stained Glass Class and have moved on to the Intermediate Level. This is the piece that got me through Beginners. It needs some finishing touches. I need to do something with the Zinc Edge. I thought about using some Steel Wool and then putting Black Patina on it. I would like the outer edge to be black.

I used Copper Patina on the inside Solder Lines. It looks pretty good for a Newbie. I'm proud of myself and can't wait to move on to Project #2. I was told to pick something a little more challenging and with more pieces...not too many pieces...but more than this one. I subscribe to Stained Glass Patterns Magazine and there is a nice Butterfly Suncatcher pattern in the magazine that I think I will try.

The Sun Gods are Smiling

We get loads of Sunshine here in Florida hence the name "The Sunshine State" I love Sunny days, it's good for the attitude.

That's what inspired me to create this lovely Stained Glass Soldered Pendant. It reminds me of the Bright Yellow Florida Sun with it's warmth and Glow. One of the posters on Craftster.org also mentioned that it can also remind us of Lemon Meringue Pie. Which do you prefer? Lemon Meringue Pie or Sunshine? Or how about a slice of Lemon Meringue Pie on a Sunny Day?

I Need a Heart Today

Oh Wow, What a Day! 1st Day back to work after a nice, long, relaxing Holiday Weekend. Nothing but Computer problems and I didn't get all my work done from today so it carries over to tomorrow. Well, I guess that's called Job Security.....I need a Heart!

Then I had to leave work early to go to the Dentist for my Exam and to schedule a cleaning. I need to have a debridment and blah, blah, blah. It seems I have some ucky things under my gum line, need a crown on a broken tooth and I have a small cavity. So approx. $2500.00 from now I should have a tip top mouth. Great! I'll just go pick it off the Money Tree I have growing in my backyard! I need a Heart!

Then I went to the Post Office to mail off some packages and the line was out the door. 1st day the Post Office is open after the Holiday. I waited and waited and waited....only 3 mail clerks working the counter..unbelievable! I need a Heart!

The light of my day is tonight....I get to finish my Beginner Stained Glass project in class tonight and I will enroll in the next step which is Intermediate classes. I'm looking forward to tonight!

American Dreams Mosaic

American Dreams, I think the TV show was called that, remember? I loved that show. Set back in the 60's during the Vietnam War. A story about a family and their trials and tribulations growing up the 60's. Whatever happened to that show?

Anyway, this is my next Mosaic Project. An American Flag Wall Hanging that I cut from a Stained Glass pattern for a Suncatcher. I decided to do the Mosaic first so I could practice my Glass cutting and grinding skills. I had gotten this far before quitting to prepare for a Craft Fair so now that the Florida Craft Season has slowed down I can finish some projects. Once this is complete I will do the matching Suncatcher in Stained Glass Copper Foil Technique.

This Mosaic is looking pretty good. It won't take long to finish up. I had originally thought about using Silver grout but the more I look at it the more I think I may use Black grout. The black grout may make it "Pop" more. What do yo think? Leave me a comment with your opinion.

Memorial Day Sale at Divinity Designs

It's Memorial Day weekend and I am so glad to have Monday off from my "day" job. I need an extra day. There are lots of things I have been putting off around the house and hopefully I can get some things done.

3 other Etsy Sellers along with myself did a Craft Fair in Daytona yesterday. Beadgaldesigns, Ingero and Nojosmom met and spent the day getting to know each other and selling our Crafty Wares.

The turn out wasn't what I anticipated and sales were low. We were told that several Vendors did not even show up. There were lots of empty spaces and we were set up allll the way downnnn the sidewalk; kind of out of the way...I wasn't happy about that. I made some sales but would have liked more business. I met some very nice people and had a good time. It was so HOT! The temp was in the mid 90's but we had tents and some shade to rest in.

This time of year in Florida, the Show Circuit comes to a screeching halt as the heat is too much to take. Things will pick back up in the Fall. I will be ready for the Holiday Season.

I am going to slow down the production mode I have been in and spend this Summer working on Stained Glass and developing my fusing skills using molds.

In the Mood For Funky Fused Glass

I was in the mood for some funky fused fun when I created this fused glass and dichroic pendant. Made with a Red Art Glass base with Dichroic and Clear Glass fired on top.

At approx. 1 1/2 in. long x 1 in. wide with gold-plated bail, this pendant is Colorful, OOAK and Funky!

Sunday Ride to Gator Joe's

Here are just a few pics of our ride this past Sunday to Gator Joe's. It was a beautiful, HOT day. We didn't have as many show up as usual but we had a great time anyway.

Gator Joe's sits on Lake Weir and Sunday was a perfect beach day whether it be on the Lake or at the ocean. We had great food and a nice ride.

Stained Glass Jewelry

Finished Mosaic Sunflower...Finally!

Ok...Finally Done. This Sunflower would have been complete last weekend but I forgot to do Stained Glass Homework and had to put off the Sunflower. Now she's done and I'm likin it!

The colors are much more vivid in person and I added a hanger to the back of the piece. I sold 2 Mosaics on Ebay last week and had requests to add hangers so this may be something I continue to do from now on. My next Mosaic is going to be an American Flag for 4th of July. I have got to put down Mosaics for a while and get some Stained Glass Suncatchers made...Summer's here and the Suncatchers are calling me!

A Crafty Challenge

I have decided to jump in with both feet and join a Crafty Swap on Craftster.org. I love that website! Craftster has been a great inspiration to me and there are loads of projects, help and all around fun.

The Swap is titled Sweat Shoppe Swap 2 and it requires making 5 items and swapping; receiving back 5 items. I thought it would be a great way to advertise my work and my Etsy Shop. I have decided to make 5 Fused Glass Pendants/Necklaces like the one pictured here. I am going to have great fun with this and I always get giddy when sending off swap packages. I can't wait to hear the responses of my receipients.

Very Productive Day!

I had a wonderful day. I am very proud of myself because I started a few projects, finished 1 and will be grouting this Sunflower Trivet tomorrow evening. This is a picture of it without the grout. I will use a black grout and I can hardly wait to get home from work tomorrow and finish this baby up.

I fused 12 glass cabachons in black and white glass for Alison's Beadery on the Boulevard in Deland Florida. Alison has been so kind to me and has taken my glass art to display in her shop. She is the greatest! Thanks Alison for the opportunity to show my work!

Oops!! I was just thinking as I was typing that last paragraph....I didn't do my Stained Glass Homework for Tuesday Night's class. I brought home my project because I needed to finish up the glass grinding so the pieces will fit and be ready for Solder Tuesday Night. Well, there goes the grouting on the Sunflower...I gotta do Homework!

Getting Serious about Glass

I have decided its time to re-align my creative efforts. I have been afflicted with a condition I lovingly refer to as ADCD - Attention Deficit Craft Disease. I haven't been able to concentrate on one particular thing in my crafty endevours. I have had lots of fun been a multi-crafter but I believe the time has come to get serious about Glass.

Glass has become a passion of mine. I learned how to fuse glass and love it. I am currently enrolled in a Stained Glass Class and love it. I have been dabbling in Mosiacs with Stained Glass and love it. I am taking a Decorative Soldering Class tomorrow which will further develop my soldering skills for Stained Glass and Jewelry Making....and you guessed it....I love it. So the only logical thing to do was get serious about glass.

I will be spending the next 3 months in production mode getting ready for a 2 day Craft Fair in downtown Deland Florida. I want my booth to be focused on Glass in various art forms.

I think I have made the right decision and my husband is happy that I have finally made up my mind. He's still thinking about that bigger kiln.

Challenges in Mosaics

It was a great and productive weekend past. I finished some projects and started some new ones. This is a Mosaic Tabletop Mirror that I completed and listed for sale in my Etsy Shop. I am really loving Mosaics. I joined a Yahoo Group and they have monthly challenges to help with techniques, etc. This month's challenge is Pique Assiette. What is Pique Assiette you ask. Well it is a style of mosaic that incorporates pieces of broken ceramics - plates, dishes, cups, tiles - and other found objects into the design. I will be hitting the yard sales and the Goodwills to find some dishes. I'm glad I stumbled across the Yahoo Group.

Something New for the Crazy Crafter!

Here it is...my very own Little Workshop. It may look small but it is quite roomy. It's alot bigger than what I had before....our Screen Room on the back of the house. I am so happy. I am moving in and organizing. I have created a few pieces in here and am currently working on some Mosaics so I am quite content. Only one problem I can foresee. I mentioned before that I want a bigger kiln. I will have to put the bigger kiln in our garage as the Shop does not have the correct power outlets to run it. The small kiln I have now is ok in here.

I will take pics of the complete inside once I have it the way I like it.

I love my husband. He put an air-conditioner in for me. I'm the luckiest girl alive!

Time to Move

It's time to move me into my new Workshop/Studio. My husband and son are putting the in final touches and then it's time to move. I have been trying to clear off my work benches.

I have alot of supplies. Glass, magazines, tools, grout, paint, clay, kiln, grinder, beads, jewelry findings, soldering irons, etc. I keep stopping to come inside and take a load out of the washer, fold a load, get a drink, sit down, blog, surf blogs, look at email, sweep the floor. I hate to move, can you tell?

I have taken some pictures of the outside of my workshop and of the empty inside. I will take more pictures of the inside once I get everything in there and set up. I will then post them.

I cannot believe how much I have and I still need more. I want a bigger kiln. A kiln with a digital controller and big enough to fuse and slump plates, coasters, etc. The kiln I have now is only big enough for jewelry pieces. I am growing in my Art and need the right equipment. That means a bigger kiln. If I start saving now, maybe by Christmas. Although my Birthday is in July, I may ask for a kiln for a present.

I better not push my luck. My husband just bought this Workshop.

What a Day!

Today's Craft Fair has come and gone. I had a nice day, not great, but good. I arrived early and got set-up. My husband usually helps me set up but today I was on my own. I need to get used to doing this myself if I am going to continue to participate in fairs.

I was a little disappointed in the turn out. I had lots of lookers but no one seemed to want to buy. I had moderate sales. I have done better. Oh well, it was a nice day weather wise, I beat the rain...it is now raining. It was hot but we had a nice breeze and I was set up in a shady spot.

So now on to more business and more creating and more crafting.

Pottery is Not For Me

I realized tonight that pottery is not for me. I am a little unhappy with the way things turned out. I can't help but think it is the instructor, she is a helluva gal but talk about disorganized. This has turned me off.

I am not interested in the wheel and took the class to learn handbuilding. I have done 2 handbuilding projects so far, the rest has been wheel work. Not a happy camper here.

Tonight was just the icing on the cake! Class time is eaten away waiting for materials to be set up and its just to chaotic. The disorganization drives me bananas. I have decided that I am not going back. I still have projects to glaze but I think I am gonna say to Hell with it.

I am very disappointed. I may change my mind by the time the next class rolls around, but as of now, I am upset, disappointed and $100 lighter in the wallet.

So, that's life!

What a Clean WorkSpace!

I thought I would post a pic of my workspace. I cleaned it up. It's usually not this organized. My husband and son built this long table and I do all my work here. This is actually my screen room. I have an enclosed screen room and I have taken over this room for my craft. The windows you see are my kitchen and dining room windows. But Great News! My husband bought me a workshop; sort of like a little barn. It's really cute, has a window and a regular door. My son and husband have been working on it; insulating it and putting up plywood. They have even put in an air-conditioner for me. It's just about ready for me to move in. It needs painted. I wanted to paint the inside a nice bright color but my husband insisted on white. It's cheap he said and it will help make things lighter and brighter in there. I have two shop lights but need all the light I can get. I will post pics of my little Workshop when it's complete. Maybe I will get offered to appear on the TV Show That's Clever.

My Stained Glass Class is cancelled for tonight so I thought I have a great opportunity to make some items for the Craft Fair. I am taking a breather right now, I came home from work and put on a pot of homemade Chicken and Noodles and I plan to work on some more Polymer Clay this evening. I have a couple Mosaic projects going that need finished up. I want to list them For Sale in my Etsy Shop.

Polymer Clay Tonight - Stained Glass Tomorrow

I have been busy getting ready for a Craft Fair this Saturday. I fused some pendants over the weekend, worked on Mosaics and Stained Glass. I got a request from some co-workers today to make some Polymer Clay Pendants. So tonight I worked with Polymer Clay. I have made 5 pendants and would like to make at least 5 more. I will post pics when they are ready. I am almost finished with a Mosaic Mirror that needed some TLC (see the pic of the green and blue mosaic towards the bottom) and started another Mosaic Mirror using jewel-toned glass and black grout. The black grout has stained my hands. I wore gloves..go figure!

Butterflies, Stained Glass and Mosaic

Well it looks like a Butterfly and it is trying to behave like a Butterfly..meaning its wings are flapping...and in Stained Glass, they aren't suppose to be flappy....should be sturdy.

This is a new area for me..Stained Glass. I am very excited and registered in a Stained Glass Class. Last week was Class #1. I learned what I did wrong with this little Butterfly so the next project will be better.

Once I get the ins and outs of Stained Glass down, I will be offering Stained Glass creations in my Etsy Shop.

The First Picture you see is another interest of mine...Mosaic. I made some mistakes on this project...although you cannot see them I don't think..I know they are there and need to try again. And again, once I get the ins and outs of Mosaic down pat, I will be offering Mosaic in my Etsy Shop as well.

Something New is Coming!

Wow, It's been awhile since I've posted to this blog. I have been in production mode getting ready for 2 Craft Fairs coming up. I also have been attending a Pottery Class on Thursday Nites and just started a Stained Glass Class on Tuesday Nites.

The Stained Glass class is terrific..the Pottery class is another thing. I'm really not into the wheel and prefer handbuilding which I haven't done much of in the class yet. I have made a wall hanging, a trivet, 2 bowls and a mug. The wheel is hard. Tonight I will probably have to give it another shot but would much prefer just being able to hand build and create something free form.

In Stained Glass class we are making a suncatcher. I attempted to do this on my own before registering for the class and boy did I have all the wrong technique. I am a firm believer in classes. Soldering is the hardest thing for me. I am excited about acquiring new skills. Soon I will be offering stained glass housewares and etc. in my Etsy Shop,

It's Home Improvement Time

This time of year we always get involved in Home Improvements. I stash money away for a whole year so we are able to do this and that around the house. My husband gets into total Home Improvement Mode and my 15 y/o son runs and hides. They enjoy doing projects and are currently looking for Palm Trees. We had a new circle drive put in last week and now we need Trees. The Palms they want are now sold out...can you imagine not being able to find a Palm Tree for Sale in Florida..LOL.

While they work outside, it gives me a chance to do some creative work inside. So while I clean, I take a break and cut some glass, work on a mosiac, play with clay.

Within the next 2 weeks, it will be "Get the Pool Ready" time. Now thats what I like!

Playing with Clay - Polymer Clay

Here's a little experiment that I am happy with. I got out the clay and started playing. I hand built this pendant, stamped and then dusted with mica powders. This pendant and two others are listed in my Etsy Shop.

I love working with different types of mediums but soon it will time to get the kiln out and fuse glass again.

Very interesting and funky pendant that is For Sale in my Etsy Shop. It appears to me as a Lucky #7 - totally random, thats why I love working with glass; so unpredictable. I just places black stringer on the glass before fusing in no specific way and this is how it turned out. I love it!

Bike Week has Come and Gone

We had a great time during Bike Week this year. I had to work during the week but still managed to get out and about. We had friends down and we putted around, ate some good food, shared good time and this picture is what I came home with....2005 Harley Davidson Heritage Softtail. She's beautiful. So now after crafting, fusing glass, making jewerly and mosaics I can ride my baby!

Time to Learn a New Craft

I am always wanting to learn something new. I like to keep busy and I do that with my glass, sewing, polymer clay, etc. But I thought I needed to continue to grow in my craft so I signed up for a Ceramics class. I am interested in handbuilding and want to make small jewelry pieces. Maybe even some trivets and such. I am excited, the class starts next Thursday and goes for 6 weeks.

My husband is gonna kill me...he's gonna say "Not another Craft!"...LOL..I love to torment him!

Bike Week 2006 Daytona Beach

Bike Week 2006 has officially begun. I have been out and about the last 2 days, people are starting to roll in and the weather here in the Daytona Beach area has been great for riding.

Well Dale Jr came in 6th place in the Daytona 500. I am a little sad but also happy for Jimmy Johnson. The race was way too exciting and even though no bump drafting was suppose to go on...it did...I love Nascar Racing...can ya tell?

I have been keeping myself busy getting things prepared for my Etsy Shop. The barrette pictured here is something new and is currently for sale at the Shop. I am doing a craft fair March 18 and have been preparing for that as well. Busy, Busy, Busy. Visit my Etsy shop and see what's new!

Good News

The races were great. My driver...JR...came in second in the Bud Shootout. Now I'm trying to win tickets to the Craftman Series Truck Races for Friday night. Wish me luck!

I have been busy creating things for a Bead Shop that I have been consigning with. It's called Beadery on the Boulevard and it is located in
Deland Florida. A wonderful gal by the name of Alison Smalls runs this neat place...she is all about helping a crafty diva out....and she is into polymer clay. She is pretty damn good at it too. In addition to the Bead Shop, I have been busy keeping my Etsy Shop stocked with fresh items.

I will be taking a handworking ceramics class this weekend in Orlando. I want to learn another craft and I think clay is it. I already have a kiln for glass fusing so this is a natural. I have decided that I will learn a new technique or craft all this year. After the clay, I want to move into Silversmithing. I will keep you posted.

This has been a busy week. I wanted to sit down and blog a little bit. I worked on some projects for my Etsy Shop and plan to get new things listed this weekend.

On another note, I won tickets to the Bud Shootout Nascar ARCA 200 race at Daytona this Saturday night. I love NASCAR!!

Ok, I am up and at 'em..gotta get busy today. I just got word that I can participate in a Basket Promo for Etsy. com.

There are going to be 4 baskets made up with handcrafted items from various artists and the baskets will be sent to Oprah, Ellen, The View and DIY Network. This will be great fun.

I am very excited and feel like I have a purpose in my art, a goal to get ready for.

I also have been accepted to showcase some of my items at a Sea Side Boutique in New Jersey. I need to get crackin and create some wonderful "beach-y" items for the Shop. The Shop is Le Petit Garage.

Tonight is the SuperBowl and I plan to be very busy with my "Biz"...I only watch the commericals anyway!

It's All About Being Crafty!

I am new to the world of blogging. I think I am going to enjoy it. It's 3:00 am and I can't sleep. Thought I would start creating my blog. I am a Crafter, hence the title. I am into fused glass among many other things. I have a shop on Etsy.com and have hopes of being successful there. It is a great place where 1000's of artists sell their handcrafted wares.
